Steffen Koch received his PhD degree from the University of Stuttgart in 2012, where he is a senior researcher and lecturer at the Institute for Visualization and Interactive Systems. He holds this position since 2015, interrupted by a visiting professorship at Ulm University in 2017/2018.

His research interests include information visualization and visual analytics. He contributed interactive visual approaches for text and multi-dimensional data, in the digital humanities, for social media research, computer network analysis, and other domains.
